Does Zach have a name for his Substack? I looked him up by name, but nothing came up.

Isn't it incredible that a church that claimed Jesus as Lord so consistently suppressed his own words? I guess that's what happens when a leader centers his vision and message on hate. Truly horrifying!

Like you said at one point, Malynda, I scarcely know where to begin - and I love this! I am not quite finished listening as I write this, though I am most of the way through it. This is my first time listening to you via audio.

Listening to you and Zach, and like the two of you do in contrasting and identifying your backgrounds... well...here's a third one.

I am a mid-60s White man, a late boomer, who has been in the Black community almost half my life now. I did not grow up in church, and saying that is like describing a microscopic crystal on *top* of the tip, of a continent sized iceberg. It's a story for another time, but my wife has been urging me that I've *got* to get the whole story out, because you have to experience it to know it - at all. "Atheist", again, is a wholly inadequate description.

What my parents did instill in me was a classical liberal philosophy, and (for the time) a militantly anti-racist stance. I've re-worked that into my faith, in which God literally found me with my back against a wall. I guess "progressive Christian" comes close to describing me, but I am not unfamiliar, at all, with the conservative Christian set. In fact, we (my wife and I) had opportunity to engage in conversation recently (and probably will continue to have this opportunity for a while) with Charlie Kirk's admirers. Not to convince each other, but to affirm that we do all believe in one God and one Savior, Jesus Christ, regardless of our differences.

Well, to cut it short before going full on TMI in too short a time, I couldn't agree more with your site's name, We Need to Talk, and it's a pleasure listening to you and Zach kind of compare notes. Please, keep doing what you're doing. I'll be here...as long as I'm doing some good, even if just simply listening.
